Job Description

Java Software Engineer - FinTechFPSG has exciting opportunities for high performing Java Software Engineers to join an expanding FinTech business. The organisation has a great blend of working with cutting edge technology, contributing to innovative products, collaborating with some of Scotland best talent and all within an ethical market sector.As software engineer you will work with a range of proprietary services. Focused on continuous innovation & development you will have freedom to invent and flexibility to evolve. The restrictions of traditional financial services are removed but the exposure to complex problems, diverse platforms, etc remain. You will have a strong understanding of core Java, Java8, RESTful services, and frameworks such as Spring & Hibernate.As Java Software Engineer your responsibilities will include:

  • Software Development
  • Developing and designing product functionality
  • Coaching, mentoring and collaborating in SOLID principles
  • Escalation of challenges pro-actively and ensuring stakeholders are informed through to resolution
  • Influencing and partaking in the Cloud and DevOps journey
  • Involvement in greenfield and brownfield projects
    • To be a successful Java Engineer you will need experience of:
  • Complex Java Development
  • Comfortable with Java API development
  • Database knowledge SQL and No-SQL
  • Data messaging and Data processing (inc Apache Spark)
  • Continuous Integration / continuous development
  • Understanding of AWS (and other Cloud platforms)
  • Building RESTful services in cloud Infrastructures
  • Agile and SOLID principles and application
