Job Description

The Head of Organisational Development will lead the provision of a strategic, modern, proactive and highly-valued Organisational Development service within First Bus; and will act as a trusted advisor role to the HRD, the Executive Team and their direct reports on a range of people issues.Client DetailsLarge organisation within the logistics and transport sector.Description

  • Create, socialise and implement the OD strategy and plan, ensuring it is aligned to the business strategy, strategic workforce plan and supports the ambitions of the organisation.
  • Ensure that the OD strategy and plan support continuous improvement and that the design and delivery of OD activities is relevant, responsive and fully evaluated.
  • Develop practical solutions to OD issues.
  • Manage the OD budget to ensure efficient and effective use to maximise investment and OD opportunities.
  • Lead the strategic approach to EDI ; overseeing and supporting the translation of the strategy into aligned and achievable, yet stretching, action plans at a local and group level.
  • Work with the business to develop a strategic and effective approach to organisational design; advising on restructures, change management
  • Work with the Head of Learning & Development to lead the Early Careers provision; ensuring the routes and programmes are fit-for-purpose, aligned with the strategic workforce plan (WFP) and corporate strategy, managed appropriately and fully evaluated.
  • To maintain own awareness, knowledge and skill set within the area of OD and the following key deliverable areas; undertake any necessary training and development as required/ directed.
  • Other duties commensurate with the role as may be deemed appropriate by the HRD.
  • Profile
  • Previous experience of working within and leading on the various OD disciplines and achieving results through others; and who has established a reputation as a credible, informed and creative leader.
  • A strategic thinker who is not afraid to challenge the status quo and who has the gravitas to influence thinking at Exec/senior level.
  • A team player wholly committed to working with and supporting their peer group and other colleagues to achieve the People Strategy
  • Effective communicator and networker with the ability to quickly forge strong working relationships
  • Able to promote buy-in to a shared vision to deliver transformational change, whilst staying within a divisional governance framework
  • Results-driven with an ability to get into the detail where necessary
  • Clear sense of ownership and an ability to follow through tenaciously to resolve issues
  • Motivational with the ability to inspire others through their actions and behaviours
  • Excellent counselling and coaching skills
  • Demonstrate good judgement in order to balance the needs of the business and the people
  • Sets and pursues guidance with minimal direction and is able to manage workload and conflicting priorities
  • Drive, ambition and enthusiasm
  • CIPD or similar professional qualification desirable
