Job Description

Infrastructure Engineer - Glasgow - To 35K plus benefits Loriens client, one of the largest of its kind and one of the UKs top-rated employers with staff across the globe, is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer / 3rd Line Support Specialist to join their already considerably sized organisation. This rolemay also be suitable for a 2nd Line Engineer / Administrator who feels they can tackle this role, grow and upskill as they work, and is keen to step up and take the next step in their career.Some of what youll get up to:

  • Being a key support resource covering 3rd line, incident management, and more for all relevant systems and services, and helping the 2nd line team where needed
  • On occasion visit customer visits for any issues which cannot be resolved remotely
  • Work with the wider teams to identify areas for infrastructure improvements and help to develop systems procedures
  • Where required, work closely with third party suppliers and contract resources for any further escalations
  • Mentoring less senior personnel
  • Work closely with Developers and other technical teams to ensure projects, systems (both new and existing), etc. are implemented correctly and smoothly
  • Install and maintain IT infrastructure and make sure it aligns with internal policies
  • Working across the spectrum including Performance Monitoring for Hardware/Software/Services, Backups, Disaster Recovery testing, Risk Assessment and Documentation
  • Getting involved in IT related projects and activities
and what youll bring to the table:
  • Strong track record in the Infrastructure Engineer / Admin domains
  • Proven hands-on and relevant skills/knowledge across the spectrum covering:
    • Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, LAN/WAN, Firewalls, etc.)
    • Sys Admin
    • Monitoring (ideally with Paessler PRTG)
    • User admin (Active Directory, Group Policy Objects)
    • On-prem and Cloud infrastructure (Azure)
    • Virtualisation (ESXI and/or Hyper-V)
    • Basic SQL
    • Storage (SAN/NAS)
  • Ability to work with and maintain relationships with customers at any level
  • Good knowledge of best practices around infrastructure
  • Ability to identify, learn and adapt to infrastructure improvements
