Job Description

RECRUITMENTiQ is currently working in partnership with a media business who are leading content discovery and viewer analytics solution worldwide, enabling video service providers, studios, broadcasters, and media companies to deliver personalized experiencesto their customers resulting in a significant uplift in viewer engagement, loyalty, and ARPU.We deliver content discovery and viewer insights to over 80 video service providers serving 350 million users in 43 languages with 6 billion recommendations per day. Customers include: HBO Latin America, DirecTV Latin America, Liberty Global, Rogers, Vodafone,Deutsche Telekom, Proximus, Astro, Singtel, and Tata Sky.As we continue to grow, we are looking to appoint talented, motivated, and ambitious go-getter to apply for our Information Scientist role based in our Glasgow HQ (initial 6 months contract with possibility to become full-time employee at the end of the6 month period).KeyResponsibilities

  • Analyse customer data sets to identify data elements that can be used for recommendations.
  • Create mappings between customer andthesauri.
  • Analyse genre and feature information of television and movie catalogues from various countries to aid in the construction of controlled vocabularies.
  • Create new and improve existingthesauri and content catalogues.
  • Oversee the translation of existingthesauri to languages required by customers.
  • Work directly with development teams to improve data extraction tools and processes.
  • Participate in company social events such as monthly hackathons and Pizza Fridays!
Essential Skills and Experience
  • BLISC, DLISC, or PhD/Masters in information science, information management, information and library studies, or related discipline.
  • Equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Knowledge/classification/cataloguing/thesauri and information retrieval.
  • Excellent research and data analysis skills.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (especially Excel).
  • Good communication skills and ability to write comprehensive reports.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to use different tools and technologies creatively and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and be able to work effectively on a team.
  • Be able to follow processes and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Be able to work independently and be an effective contributor.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Understanding of metadata (especially media related metadata), content curation, or content tagging.
  • Background in linguistics and/or film and media studies.
  • Knowledge of a second language.
  • Experience in using relational databases and SQL.
  • Experience in developing taxonomies and thesauri.
  • An understanding of XML files and CVS/GIT repositories.
  • Knowledge of any mark-up or programming language.
  • Data analysis experience.
  • Experience in Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
  • An interest in the software development industry.
