Job Description

Pertemps Scotland Ltd are working with our client inGlasgow to recruit for an experienced Housing Officer on a temporary basis until April 2021.Hourly Rate £14.51 35 hour week, Monday to Friday.This role will be homeworking.Basic Disclosure Scotland Required.Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide all aspects of estate management and rent monitoring service to tenants within a specified geographical patch
  • Allocate houses and provide advice to potential tenants and those seeking accommodation within the same specified geographical patch
  • Jointly inspect and provide information and advice with regard to the physical standard of vacant council owned dwellings
  • Allocate houses to applicants with strict accordance with the allocation policy.
  • Provide advice and assistance to all applicants for housing.
  • Assist Clerical Officers in order to ensure that applications and allocations are processed within the service standards.
  • Minimise the void period by sensitive use of the allocation policy and to assist in the monitoring of void houses through all steps of the allocation process.
  • Provide advice on the appropriate lettable standard in relation to a particular property
  • Assess, along with the void officer, the appropriate level of repairs required for void properties and to monitor compliance with this standard
  • Minimise the time from notification of termination to relet for all voids and to liaise with other staff within to ensure the quickest possible relet of all void houses.
  • Make nominations of applicants to Housing Associations in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Nominate applicants for rehousing to other authorities.
  • Provide tenants with a high quality and comprehensive estate management service.
  • Monitor estates to identify illegal occupiers, absconders and other changes in tenancies and take appropriate action.
  • Monitor environmental standards in their estates, identify improvement required and take action to encourage improvements including liaison with other Departments/Divisions
  • Take action to enforce the conditions of lease where tenants are in breach.
  • Attend tenant association and other residents meetings as required to give advice and assistance.
  • Liase as necessary with tenants before and during major works being carried out on houses.
  • Attend emergencies and render assistance as appropriate.
  • Prepare answers for correspondence on matters relating to their work.
  • Visit and advise tenants whose rent accounts are in arrears according to procedures and serve Notice of Proceedings
  • Carry out assist in the process of accompanied viewings with prospective tenants
  • Contribute to the regular review of practices and procedures to ensure that best value is achieved.
  • Offer advice regarding house sales disposal plans, boundary disputes and disposal of HRA land.
  • Investigate, advise and refer matters relating to anti-social behaviour.
  • Signpost clients to multi agency services for the provision of specialist advice. Give information for multi-agency e.g case conferences, care programming
  • Assist with the development of policy and procedure documents.
  • Carry out other duties consistent with grade, as prescribed from time to time
