Job Description

HGV Driver TrainerGlasgowOur client is looking for HGV Driver Trainers to join their team. Youll be co-ordinating / delivering professional and cost effective training across the business ensuring that all training is aligned to the business goals & drives improved H&S safety forall employees. Taking responsibility for driver behaviour improvement and development, ensuring new starters are inducted and trained correctly. Proactively identify opportunities to maintain and improve quality and H&S standards.Contracted hours 45 per week, MondayFriday with the occasional weekend work when required.Relevant COVID-19 precautions will be taken during the recruitment process for this roleHGV Driver Trainer Duties:

  • Ensure new drivers are assessed (with written reports) when they join.
  • Ensure that driver behaviours are monitored and corrected as required within group standards using Microlise management reference.
  • Deliver practical, targeted training relating to driving hours, tachograph, Working Time Directive (WTD), telematics & fuel management to all drivers in order to achieve Safe & Fuel Efficient driving and facilitate improvements in MPG, H&S, Compliance,RTA reduction & reduced equipment damage.
  • Ensure all new drivers receive relevant inductions & training, including vehicle & equipment familiarisation and SSoWs, with relevant training recorded.
  • Produce clear and effective training plans in line with divisional requirements.
  • Delivery of Manual Handling Training and post-accident investigations as required.
  • Upkeep on driver handbooks.
  • Involvement in damage monitoring & controls.
  • Involvement with specific customer & continuous improvement projects.
  • Support new customer implementation & change projects.
HGV Driver Trainer Requirements:
  • A full UK C+E licence
  • Significant knowledge of all drivers rules & regulations and of the Highway Code.
  • Previous experience delivering DCPC.
  • Working away when required to support the needs of the business.
  • Occasional weekend work may be required.
  • Ideally with previous experience of delivering various products in a range of tanker types
  • Demonstrating people development skills and the ability to train, coach and develop people.
  • Previous experience with class room presentations / training advantageous.
  • Keen to develop, learn new skills / qualifications.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence and coach staff at all levels.
  • Able to travel / work away from home when required.
