Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Head of Health & Safety for one of our key clients within the Glasgow area who specialise in industrial manufacturing with multiple sites in Scotland and across the globe.Client DetailsOur client prides themselves on their quality and prestige and have customers all over the globe in a variety of industry sectors. Based in multiple sites in Scotland, the UK and across the world they are a large employer of the best talent in the industry.DescriptionBeing part of the Senior Management Team, the Head of Health and Safety is primarily responsible for devising, implementing and leading the companys strategy, driving a culture which never compromises on the health and safety of employees, contractors,customers and partners by ensuring the workforce is fully engaged in understanding their responsibilities and empowered to take action when required.

  • Ensure that the HSW Team operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors
  • Instil a culture of safety, innovation, continuous improvement and responsiveness to internal and external customers to achieve:
o zero accidents o near miss reporting which exceeds industry standardso a culture of second nature behavioural safety
  • Develop and agree strategic plans for HSW and related activities that develop the service to meet current and future needs of the business and ensure the organisation achieves world class levels of HSW performance
  • Develop safety policies and programs, including induction and ongoing training programs, partnering with HR and Operations to ensure the policies and programs are embedded.
  • Research market developments in relevant areas, identify approaches and processes that will add value to the business & develop and propose to the Senior Management Team any relevant developments, projects, approaches and initiatives.
  • Implement a programme of audits to ensure achievement of service levels that are equal or better than industry standard, monitor service level achievement to ensure that commitments are delivered.
ProfileExperience Desired* Chartered ISOH* 3+ years experience in a similar role with demonstrable experience in leading a health & safety culture transformation, in a multi-location, technical and operational led business.* Demonstrable strategic and influencing skills at a senior level resulting in positive changes to existing practices* Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ Level 5 Diploma level, with evidence of CPD (through IOSH) achievement as well as proven experience of working with and improving management systems.* Experience of ISO BS 4500:1 (previously (1800:1) with auditing experience.* Experience of developing and implementing meaningful HSW KPIs, targeting key areas of improvement, enabling the ability to celebrate success.* First-hand experience of dealing with regulatory bodies stakeholders and external clients* Demonstrable leadership and line management skills with a coaching style that gets the best out of people focused on collaboration, continual improvement, personal and professional growth and empowerment* Commercial awarenessJob OfferExcellent salary on offer + benefits dependent on experience.
