Job Description

Global Tax Risk Director (AVP) Glasgow 3249189 The Tax Department reports to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer and consists of over 200 employees worldwide. The Tax Department is responsible for global tax compliance (both corporate and indirect taxes), tax accounting, business unit tax advice and taxplanning for the Firm. The Global Tax Risk Team supports the Tax Department in all regions through: - Promoting awareness of operational risk management within Global Tax - Facilitating Global Tax input to various Firm / Finance risk processes and initiatives to ensure compliance with Firm operational risk policies e.g. providing risk updates and reporting to senior management About Morgan Stanley Morgan Stanley is a leading global financial services firm providing a wide range of investment banking, securities, investment management and wealth management services. What will you be doing • Report to the Global Tax Risk Lead • Assist with the preparation of the Tax Departments annual Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) including gathering information from all regional tax teams, ensuring deliverables are met, managing the Firm RCSA data tools and producing dashboard reportingfor Senior Management • Assist regional tax teams with the facilitation of annual SAO, SOX and LFI processes • Be responsible for documentation and system management of Tax Operational Risk Incidents (ORIs) • Be responsible for the facilitation of the annual EUC data collection, review and refresh process across the Tax Department • Be responsible for monitoring the status of all Tax Department action plans with follow up when necessary to ensure timely completion • Ensure the Policy Portal houses up to date and relevant policies and procedures • Assist with the implementation of new controls and processes across all areas of Tax to ensure compliance with local Tax authority standards and reduce overall risk ratings • Facilitate delivery of ad-hoc operational risk initiatives What were looking for: • Strong communication skills, with a proven track record of managing communications with senior stakeholders. • Management experience, demonstrating development of junior staff. • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment and be a team player. • Have the ability to work autonomously. • Be able to demonstrate strong risk and control awareness. • Operational risk management experience advantageous but not essential. • Tax and / or accounting experience advantageous but not essential. • Have a proven track record of developing and improving reporting and processes. • Be proficient with Microsoft Office. • Must have the ability to think critically and self-review. • Should challenge accepted processes, and suggest alternative solutions. • Self-motivated, with a desire to succeed and develop professionally and personally.
