The core purpose of the Financial Controller position is to manage and lead the Accounts team in Glasgow to ensure optimum efficiency in all aspects of Financial Control at Bruichladdich Distillery Co. • Prepare and deliver accurate and timely financial and management accounts
• Own the accuracy of the trial balance
• Ensure that rigorous financial controls are implemented and applied across all areas of the business through appropriate policies and procedures
• Prepare year end statutory accounts packs and annual financial statements for Group and auditors (UK GAAP)
• Prepare monthly and annual cashflow forecasts and variance analysis & implement working capital KPIs.
• Continually review & develop processes & procedures to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting process - both via automation and control
• Manage all accounting operations across the business including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting, inventory accounting and revenue recognition
• Accelerate the implementation of a paperless month-end process including the compilation of month-end balance sheet schedules (especially accrued expenses, prepayments, and fixed assets)
• Work closely with FD and FP&A Manager on the monthly reporting, annual budget, mid-term plan and planning process
• Maintain and sustain standard costing systems for operations (TROPOS) - investigate the implementation of weighted average as an opportunity
• Provide detailed analysis of company overhead cost base and identify opportunities / areas for improvement to support the FP&A Manager in building budget
• Lead key corporate projects
• Lead the future implementation of the Group ERP for Finance (SAP) in partnership with all the corporate functions (from 2022)
• Implement paperless invoicing
• Prepare and deliver the quarterly VAT filings and other external returns (R&D)
• Review company payroll documents for accuracy, as these are prepared by a third-party company, ensuring appropriate changes have been reflected and processed to the required deadlines
• Manage all the pension administration topics in partnership with HR
• Prepare and submit all Corporation Tax documentation for Statutory and Company purposes
• Liaise with external consultants including HMRC, auditors, bankers
• Ensure government / legal compliance in all tasks
• Lead and develop a transactional finance team (3 people)

ProfileCandidate ProfileFinancial Controller - Essential Skills/Attributes/Experience

• Professional Accountancy Qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ICAS)
• 5+ years experience within a senior finance position, an experience in External Audit is desirable
• Exceptional analytical, problem solving and organisations skills
• Motivated & passionate individual with a focus on continuous improvement
• Be proficient in the use of accounting software / systems
• Excellent communicator with the ability to present complex information engagingly
• Impact and conviction - shared passion and philosophy

Desirable

• Experience with SAP / CODA / TROPOS / FCRS / Essbase
• Drinks/ Manufacturing experience
