For more than 350 years and across the worldwe have passionately pursued our curiosity to find novel and vibrant ways of enhancing the lives of others.As part of ongoing expansion of the Molecular Biology department, we are recruiting for an Equipment Specialist.The Equipment Specialist shall work under the direction of laboratory management with responsibility to ensure effective maintenance of businesscritical, specialist Molecular Biology equipment; with particular focus on extraction robotics, thermal cycling and liquid handling instrumentation. The Equipment Specialist shall be responsible for ensuring that equipment and instrumentation is availablefor use by laboratory staff; including routine calibration/maintenance and breakdown management. In addition, the Equipment Specialist shall be responsible for management of projects related to the introduction of new equipment and software to the department.The Equipment Specialist will be required to liaise closely with cross-functional teams within the business and external vendors. They will comply with all relevant company policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure business critical instruments and systemscomply with current GxP standards, ensuring all documentation is completed in adherence with GxP regulations and company procedures.Duties include:

• Performing routine cleaning, maintenance and calibration of critical laboratory equipment such as extraction robots, liquid handlers, thermal cyclers and capillary electrophoresis instrumentation to ensure smooth running of the laboratory
• Following Standard Operating Procedures to ensure that maintenance is completed in a timely fashion and accurately recorded to meet appropriate scientific and GxP regulatory standards
• Managing the investigation and resolution of deviations, instrument breakdowns, implementation of CAPAsand communication of outcomes within the team e.g. through attendance/presentation at team meetings
• Liaising with external vendors to manage calibration, maintenance and repair activities

• Management of projects related to the introduction of new equipment and software to the department - e.g. costing/acquisition, installation, validation and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance assessment

Who you are:

• BScina relevant scientific discipline and/or proven relevant laboratory experience
• Previous experience in usage, maintenance and/or validation of Molecular Biology laboratory equipment such as nucleic acid extraction robotics, liquid handlers, thermal cyclers, and capillary electrophoresis instrumentation
• Experience in working in a regulatory environment is essential

• Experience/knowledge of regulatory requirements for 21 CFR Part 11 compliance is desirable
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong computer literacy, including e.g. Microsoft Office and use of information databases
• Strong organisational skills demonstrated through e.g. oversight of projects and the ability to plan own workload
• Demonstrated ability to collaboratively work in cross-functional teams

• High level of initiative and self-drive, facing challenges with energy, drive and the need to finish, with a strong focus on quality and safety
