Our ambitious and exciting vision is to work at local, national and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.Reporting to the local area manager the Environmental Consultant is responsible for undertaking consultancy and project work with SACCS clients in the agricultural and rural sector.The main purposes of this role are:1. to undertake environmental and climate work for SAC Consulting clients and to add specialist support to similar work carried out by colleagues2. to provide high quality environmental consultancy and input as required into public, private and third sector client work carried out by SAC Consulting (this includes Farm Advisory Service).The job holder will work closely within the regional consulting teams and with the other conservation consultants. They will be aligned to and have close links with the Senior Ecologist and Ecologist from the Food & Footprint team and others within thatbusiness area (e.g., Woodlands Team). In addition, contact with key researchers in the wider SRUC will be important.They will help increase the amount of environmental, ecological and biodiversity work done by SAC Consulting. This includes enhancements in natural capital and carbon sequestration. This work will be carried out directly but also by helping colleagues acrossthe business. This team will be solely focused on this work and will not be distracted by other workstreams faced by other consultants in the regional teams.Key elements of the role will include: Agri environment and climate scheme work National public sector natural capital projects Peatland restoration Development of tailored guidance for colleagues and land managers Environmental impact assessment related work for infrastructure projects Policy support for research and consulting colleagues and public sector clients Internal training of conservation and general consultancy colleagues Providing specialist input to tenders and marketing material to highlight SAC Consultings capabilities relating to conservation and natural capitalThe jobholder will be line managed by the local area manager.
