We expect further renewable growth with the associated requirement to continue to develop and grow our network.As an Engineering Manager, youll manage a team of multidiscipline engineers overseeing all engineering aspects of a range of development and delivery projects within Transmission. As line manager for a group of engineers, one of your key responsibilities will be planning and supporting both their work and their continued learning and professional development.Working with other teams within Transmission, such as project management, Operations, Standards and Procurement etc. youll ensure that both sound engineering practise and innovation are incorporated into designs, and that we continuously seek to improve the engineering of our Network.You will also take a key role in managing the performance of consultants and contractors supporting the delivery of our significant portfolio of work, including getting ready for delivering our £2.2 billion RIIO-T2 plan.Your Skills and ExperienceYoull be qualified in a relevant engineering discipline, preferably a Chartered Engineer, with extensive experience in a similar environment. In particular you will have technical and commercial knowledge of the Transmission or Distribution business. Due to the regulatory obligations placed upon us as a business, you should have a good knowledge of industry standards and the legal implications of our projects, and know where to find expert technical resources when necessary.Youll be a diligent individual, with distinct skills in prioritisation and risk mitigation. As youll be liaising with a wide range of individuals, youll need to be able to relay complex and technical messages in an easy to understand manner, with an ability to negotiate and influence to best serve the whole project portfolio.Our CompanyAt Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), our skilled teams operate and maintain our electricity distribution and transmission networks, carrying electricity to over 3.7 million homes across the north of Scotland and central southern England.Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area.
