Assisting operations that the collection, transport and disposal of all waste streams is controlled and in accordance with the relevant waste disposal and environmental protection regulations.Under guidance of the Operations Director continually improve Safe Systems of Work; preparing, developing and changing environmental, health and safety policies and arrangements to meet legislative requirements.To carry out and periodically review assessments on the hazards and risks associated with hazardous substances under COSHH legislation.Support the business unit in achieving its ISO standards, including ISO14001-2015.Ensuring registers are kept and maintained for various EHS relating activities i.e. Dont Walk By safety initiative, testing of emergency arrangements (fire, sprinkler systems etc).To keep up to date with pending/new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of applicable UK Environmental, Health and Safety legislation that may affect operations.To provide environmental, health and safety guidance to management hierarchy on statutory legislation, approved codes of practice, guidance notes, etc. as required.Coordinate the carrying out and reviewing of (routine and non-routine) risk assessments ensuring control measures are suitably managed and risks reduced.To keep and maintain records of inspections findings and producing management reports for analysis.To produce environmental safety reports, bulletins and alerts at the request of Management.To support EHS internal/external compliance audits.Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and arrangements are being properly adhered to.To assist SMT in the development and implementation of corrective actions.Lead in-house training with managers and employees about environmental, health and safety issues and risks, where required and knowledge permitting develop internal training programmes.To be where required actively involved in accident/incident investigations, follow up identification of appropriate corrective/preventative measures and implementation.Responsible for ensuring First Aid/AED personal are duly trained as required.Ensuring that firefighting equipment is maintained, is of the correct type and quantity according to its location.Assisting in EHS emergency situations, liaising where guided with suppliers, contractors and authoritive bodies.Where required under guidance of the Regional EHS Director facilitating any external authoritative regulatory bodies visits i.e. Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Environmental Agency in their enquiries and resolution.To be involved in change management working with the SMT to ensure significant changes to assets, processes i.e. new buildings, plant, process lines or equipment and the re-siting of plant, processes or equipment conform to the relevant Health and Safety rules and regulations.Carry out delivery of employee and contractor inductions.Produce environmental and safety notices using in house capability.
