Job Description

Our client, a highly respected Higher Education establishment based in Glasgow, require a Donor Relations Officer on a temporary basis to end of September 2023. The salary for the position is £17.26 per hour. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 9.00am to5.00pm - 35 hours per week.Main purpose of role:To contribute to the stewardship and retention of the organisations global community of donors by identifying, designing and delivering customer service touch-points. The post holder will support relationships with charitable trusts and foundations and individualdonors from the UK and globally.Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Working in coordination with relevant colleagues in the Philanthropy Team, review the teams portfolio of donors based overseas, and propose and deliver customised stewardship touchpoints for those donors. This may include devising and delivering personalisedupdates and communications, and setting up and participating in zoom meetings, events and phone calls. Meetings, events and phone calls may be conducted by the post holder or their colleagues as is appropriate for each donor, and may include coordinating theinvolvement of academic and other senior University staff. The post holder is expected to exercise their own judgement in deciding what approach will best meet the needs of each donor, and in ensuring that donors are treated consistently and appropriately
  • Support the Trusts and Foundations team, the Stewardship team and the Global team by gathering and synthesising information from colleagues across the organisation in order to write compelling proposals and reports to both secure philanthropic income andto meet funding obligations. Proposals and reports may be directed to individual donors or grant-making trusts and foundations, as needed
  • Use the alumni and donor database (Raisers Edge) to maintain records on donors and their gifts, ensuring a complete record of the relationship is maintained. Interrogate the database to source prospects for cultivation and provide reports on donors andstewardship activity
Key Skills and Requirements:
  • Understanding of the principles of major gift fundraising and/or how to provide excellent customer service to secure and maintain financial commitments
  • Knowledge of the tax and regulatory environment for fundraising and charitable giving
  • Excellent writing skills - persuasive storytelling, making cases and arguments and the concise conveying of complex information
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail with good editing skills
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
  • Track record of making persuasive arguments in writing and achieving results
  • Experience of complex administration within a fast-moving working environment
  • Previous use of Raisers Edge or similar database for the tracking and management of relationships and providing reports
  • Experience of delivering good customer service or supporter relationship management
