Job Description

Devops Engineer - Glasgow - £77kRole: Devops EngineerLocation: GlasgowSalary: Up to £77k DOE My client is looking to add to their expanding DevOps function with a senior member of the team. They are looking for someone who can configure and maintain a growing cloud IaaS/PaaS and work with Kubernetes clusters in Azure. You will be responsible for maintaining availability of services to technical teams and users whilst identifying continual improvements to the environment.This continual development of the platform will include systems development, automation and diagnostic improvements. Assurance of platform security, privacy and resilience will be amongst your greatest concerns. The business is looking for someone that is comfortable to contribute to ideas with the technical design lead leading to infrastructure and data products that comply with and meet security standards along with privacy corporate responsibilities.You will work as part of multidisciplinary teams, adopting our agile approach to delivery. You will be supportive of open and inclusive discussions about how to deliver the business technical needs and will continually be seeking to innovate better practices to delivery ensuring that services can continue to deliver value to consumers on a sustainable basis.We are looking for a candidate with excellent skills in the below:

  • Agile software engineering practices (continuous integration/testing and deployment)
  • Building Kubernetes clusters in the cloud
  • Experience with architecture/engineering of cloud based
  • distribution systems
  • Experience of Microservices Architecture and APIs
  • Strong knowledge of Azure and its PaaS offerings such as Storage Accounts, AKS, Application Gateways, Azure Firewall, Key Vaults and App Service.
  • Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, and APIs
  • Authentication technologies. i.e. LDAP, OAuth, 2FA, SAML, and SSO via Kerberos
  • Bash, Python, Java
  • Experienced with security controls, Encryption & key/certificate management, endpoint protection, virtual firewalls/ACLs/NSGs, setting up bastion nodes, etc
  • Background in distributed systems
  • Databases, security, networking & load balancing, monitoring, scripting, automation
  • A deep understanding of distributed system design and dependency management
  • Linux Systems administration
  • Familiarity with open source configuration management and deployment tools such as Ansible and Terraform
