We have an exciting opportunity available for a Developer Experience Lead to join us in a home working role from any location in the UK with the expectation to visit our state-of-the-art Headquarters in Southampton when required. OS location data and expertise has helped governments make smarter decisions, businesses gain valuable data insight, and everyone experience the world outside for over 225 years.We offer fantastic benefits in return for joining us as our Developer Experience Lead:- Competitive salary plus performance-related bonus- Competitive pension- 37 hour working week (with flexible working options)- 25 days annual leave (30 days after five years), plus bank holidays and an extra 3 over Christmas- A suite of excellent additional benefitsAbout the role:Our Developer Experience Lead role is pivotal to helping our customers unlock the potential of this data, by providing technical expertise and insights, and partnering to collaboratively create innovative solutions and ensure maximum utilisation of all tools available.Key responsibilities of our Developer Experience Lead will include:- Identifying, building and maintaining successful working relationships externally with the developer community, GI System suppliers and key System Integrators- Increasing awareness of OS data in the “developer, system supplier and integrator community”- Inspiring new and existing users to adopt, integrate and exploit the best of OS content and service- Owning and further developing the self-serve experience including documentation, code examples, tools and licensing- Co-ordinating the delivery of support and advice to internal stakeholder for development and to external stakeholders as a lead developer- Acting as the lead advocate for this enabling community (Developers, System Suppliers & Integrators) increasing insight and influence- Actively seeking key development opportunities that increase the use and value of OS content within 3rd Party solutions- Championing the next generation of OS partners to grow the value of Geospatial data- Collaborating with colleagues to write project reports, propositions and proposals- Developing and mentoring a small team of developers/Technical Relationship Consultants- Influencing and presenting to key internal stakeholders internally and externallyWhat we’re looking for in our Developer Experience Lead:- Strong analytical skills to enable effective planning and decision making- Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills- The ability and gravitas to build and maintain excellent working relationships and manage senior stakeholders- Industry credibility when interacting with decision-makers- Proven ability to work to tight and changeable deadlines- Experience of analysing requirements and identifying key decision points within the proposition lifecycle- Experience of working with innovative developers, GI system suppliers and/or system IntegratorsOn the technical side, we’re looking for evidence of good knowledge across one or more of the following:- Range of developer skills critically Geospatial- Software skills JavaScript skills, Python, Mapbox GL JS, Leaflet and OpenLayers skills- Experience interacting with data services / APIs- Knowledge of data engineering concepts - methods to combine, transform and integrate different datasets- Understanding of geospatial third-party data sources- Geospatial-statistical analysis- Data visualisation e.g. D3.js- Passionate about data- Sound knowledge of understanding Data Hub APIs- Sound knowledge of understanding of mapping APIs- Comfortable & engaged with social media- Web mapping and middleware- OGC services- Open API specification- Geospatial platforms- Good knowledge of OS data (products and services)Our National Mapping Service (NMS) unit helps government make smarter decisions with our world-leading location expertise.If you would like to be part of this, please click apply now to be considered as our Developer Experience Lead - we’d love to hear from you!Closing Date: Sunday 4th April 2021
