Role: Desktop Release Manager (12 month FTC)Location: GlasgowSalary: £39,500 - £43,500 + remote working until early 2021 and then 2 days in the office thereafter + huge pension + more. A leading financial services organisation based in Glasgow are looking for a Desktop Release Manager to join the Mobility Area within their Technology Group directorate.The Technology Group within this organisation provides secure and resilient technology solutions required to support operations and business objectives. The Desktop Release Team has the responsibility for the management and upkeep of the Desktop Platform operating an Evergreen model to ensure is maintained in line with vendor updates. The successful candidate will lead the Desktop Release Team in the provision of core Service with a focus on the maintenance of the Desktop Platform and management operation of key processes. This is a hands-on role with the successful candidate expected to lead the team and participate in the work of the team.Responsibilities: * To provide leadership, direction and motivation to a team of technology staff, providing the necessary support for effective performance* Management and maintenance of the Desktop platform - this includes Application packaging and deployment, Desktop Build, security patching, group policy management and use of toolsets including Intune and SCCM.* Management and ownership of key processes including Desktop Build, Evergreen, security patching, application packaging and deployment. * Support for the Desktop Platform in conjunction with colleagues in Desktop and other parts of the Technology Group * In collaboration with Desktop and other TG colleagues provide and sustain the strategies for the on-going development of the Desktop PlatformGeneral* Establish and maintain excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships through which a deep understanding of both current and future needs can be clearly identified* Plan and supply activities and solutions, as appropriate, to fulfil these needs* Plan and manage technical quality assurance activities to ensure quality standards are maintained and to facilitate the improvement of products and services* In the event of major issues, co-ordinate all relevant activities, where reasonable, to ensure efficient performance and return to normal conditions as soon as possible* Follow the capacity planning process to determine resource levels appropriate to demand* Support the budgeting process in ensuring that funding requirements are defined, and that expenditure is managed within the policies set out by our client and its stakeholders* Carry out appraisals of staff performance, ensuring they are aware of and have the capabilities for delivering their accountabilities* Contribute to the recruitment process as required to ensure that the Division attains and retains a highly skilled workforceThere may be times when you will also be expected to carry out other reasonable management instructions or requests to suit the business needs.About you:This role requires the following skills and experience.* Experience of working in an IT environment, ideally a Desktop Infrastructure area* Experience of technologies such as Windows 10, Active Directory, SCCM, Group Policies and ideally Intune * Experience of application packaging, software deployment, and Security patching * Experience of working with and managing 3rd Party delivery partners* A clear understanding of system architectures and systems components* Experience of managing business stakeholders and service delivery* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to think laterally and conceptually* Experience in managing backlogs of work, control of priorities, and resolution of conflicts* Ability to contribute to a team of peers, as well as within own team* Self-motivated and highly organized with strong attention to detail* Ability to focus on continuous improvement and developing strong working practices* Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills with experience of reporting to a senior audienceDesirable Skills / Experience* A working knowledge of ITIL * Experience of managing an IT Technical team is preferredIf this opportunity sounds like a good fit for your experience and skill-set and youre looking to join an energetic team/company then please apply now for this position.
