Job Description

FPSG are assisting a long term client with the recruitment of Data Architect for a 3 month contract. The primary requirement of this contractor will be to ultimately help create a central master data model for the business. The goal is to have a central version data model that the business can document, maintain and grow.Please note this contract has been deemed outside IR35.Please note that interviews for this role will be taken via telephone and VC. The role is available for fully remote.Primary Responsibilities

  • Investigate the current data landscape, familiarizing yourself with, the data stores, data transmission mechanisms, interfaces internally, API management, versioning and update processes.
  • Use the collected information to create a correct master data model for the business that will become the core data model, which will be able to flow to other systems
  • Utilise industry standard practises and processes in data modelling and transformation where necessary
  • Employ a Data modelling tool to be able to capture the current state of the data model.
  • Advise and upskill the business on how to use the recommended data modelling tool(s) to map, document and maintain the model going forward, version the new model
  • Create Avro schema updates based on the MDM version for exchanging data internally on a Kafka backbone
  • Recommend the best data storage medium based on the new data model and being hosted in the cloud.
    • Skills required to be from the successful contractor:
  • Hands-on relational, dimensional, and/or analytic experience (using RDBMS, dimensional, NoSQL data platform technologies, and ETL and data ingestion protocols)
  • Data warehouse, Data Lake, and enterprise big data platforms in multi-data-centre contexts required
  • Taken companies through data modelling and transformation exercises and can confidently communicate the problems along the way, as well as the benefits the companies received
  • Knowledge of metadata management, data modelling, and related tools
  • Experience with data transformations in the past, building data models for companies from scratch, as well as transforming existing data processes into properly modelled implementations
  • Well skilled in data modelling techniques
  • Up to date with the current data transformation and storage tooling
  • Experience of Kafka, Avro and NIFI
