I am working with a growing online retail company who are currently recruiting for a technically strong CTO in Glasgow.The CompanyThey are a rapidly growing online retail and E-Commerce business, based out of Glasgow with a strong focus on the Asian retail market. They have witnessed 100% growth year on year and are hiring their first CTO / Technical Lead into the business. They have employees across Glasgow, London and China and with their sustained growth over the last few years, are looking to build out a brand-new Engineering function.The business is run by a group of young and ambitious entrepreneurs, and they are really going places. Their realistic aim is to become the industry leader in their market in the next 10 years, and they require a technically able CTO to help them deliver this. With part of the team being based from China, this role will require an element of travel oversees (circa twice annually).The roleThis organisation are looking for a CTO / Technical Lead / Principal Engineer to join the business in order to build a new software platform and additionally hire and grow the software team. Initially, you will need to be able to code and Architect the design of the system, but gradually your hands-on responsibilities will be taken up by the Engineers you hire. They estimate that the technical team will be around 10-15 people in the next 12 months (and you will also be required to help hire these individuals).At present, the platform is running on modified Magento and they are looking to move away from this (with your ideas and input on the matter critical). They envisage that the person in this role will have worked in a Microservices environment and will be comfortable working across a variety of technologies.
