Applications are welcomed for a full time, (40 hours per week, 10 PA) consultant subspecialist gynaecologist in gynaecology oncology. The candidate will have completed the RCOG subspecialist training programme or its equivalent at the point of commencementThe gynaecology oncology department, based in Glasgow Royal Infirmary, provides a tertiary service for treatment of gynaecological cancer in the West of Scotland Region (population >3 million).The successful candidate will work in a team, which at full strength consists of five gynaecology oncology surgeons and two specialist nurses working with the associated medical and clinical oncology departments. The service has formalised support from colorectal surgeons enabling provision of radical surgery for ovarian disease. Support from allied specialties including plastics and urology is established. Candidates should have advanced laparoscopic surgical skills as well as competency in surgical management of all gynaecology cancers.There will be opportunities to contribute to service development projects as well as teaching and training activities. Clinical and supporting professional activity is reviewed annually. A minimum SPA is allocated initially and reviewed within 6 months of appointment and aligned to the individual’s roles with the service.Candidates will have contribution to the general gynaecology on call rota (frequency approx 1:9).
