About DIOThe Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is the estate expert for Defence, supporting the armed forces to enable military capability by planning, building, maintaining, and servicing infrastructure. Our responsibilities include: • Plan and deliver major capital projects and lifecycle refurbishment • Provide utilities services • Manage soft facilities management (i.e. cleaning and catering) • Provide a safe place to train • Allocate Service Families Accommodation • Procure and manage routine maintenance and reactive repair • Provide a central register of asset information to advise infrastructure planning • Act as steward of the Defence estate • Provide the unarmed guarding service We employ approximately 4,900 staff from a very diverse range of professions including head office functions and specialisms such as surveyors, town planners, airfield pavement experts, foresters and construction engineers. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a large overseas multi-million-pound contract procurement activity for MOD sites across the world. DIO Commercial is responsible for the procurement and contract management of infrastructure Contracts of the defence estate in the UK and abroad including military bases, training facilities and accommodation. We provide Contracted services for catering, cleaning, guarding and other services that ensure the military can live, work, train and deploy. Commercial is a key enabler to DIO’s success in achieving this. In total the DIO Commercial team comprises of around 280 members of staff, based at hubs nationally including Andover, Huntingdon and Glasgow and overseas. You will develop and manage key sourcing activities to meet project goals while minimising risk and ensuring Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is considered. You will be the trusted advisor in sourcing and commercial initiatives to both, stakeholders and your team members, ensuring compliance to the appropriate processes and operating procedures. Your primary function will be supporting the delivery of a programme of procurement sourcing activities which will provide a resilient and efficient Infrastructure support service across the MOD’s overseas estate for the following locations • South Atlantic Islands • Cyprus • Gibraltar • Germany • Europe You will deliver the procurement of safe, efficient, resilient and agile contracts which will provide Hard and Soft Facilities Management services to customers living and working on the MOD’s overseas Estates. It is a unique programme, with a variety of countries producing different legislative and cultural challenges, along with some additional requirements like schools, health care and welfare facilities. This role may require occasional travel to overseas locations and within the UK. Full driving licence is preferred but not essentialResponsibilitiesYou will be involved in procurement of multi million-pound contracts for the MOD Overseas Estates, dealing with Global Companies. Your responsibilities will be to provide commercial advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders some of whom may be senior members to the MOD. You will ultimately be accountable to the Director of Commercial for any commercial activity you undertake.
