Job Description

FirstBus are looking for a Commercial Analyst to join us in Glasgow, Scotland on a 12 month fixed term contract!As a Commercial Analyst, you will work as a key member of the Scotland commercial team, ensuring that robust dataanalysis and evaluation of customer insight sit at the heart of ourdecision-making processes.Withsupport from our central data and analytics team, you will be responsible for commercialanalysis in Scotland and will embed an insight-led approach, to make informed decisions in the Operating Company.You will play a vital role in helping us meet the new needs of our customers, so that we are constantly evolving.   • Using data and insight to proactively monitor business performance and identify emerging trends and issues
  • Working with the local commercial, network and marketing teams, to identifyopportunities for passenger and revenue growth
  • Generating ideas to enhance and grow our network, utilising planning tools and building the required evidence and arguments to proceed
  • Making suggestions within ourbus networks to improve their efficiency and effectiveness
  • Monitoring retail channels and products, leading on innovative and evidenced suggestions for price points
  • Supporting the preparation of the revenue budget and forecasts
  • Working within a divisional framework, providing regular revenue, channel and passenger performance reports with relevant commentary and insight
  • Using market information provided by the central analytics team to understand why external factors impact demand on bus travel and make recommendations based on thatinsight
  • Providing analyticalsupport for new business initiatives within Scotland
  • Acting as the Operating Company champion for dataanalysis, ensuring that the central investment in improved systems is utilised across the Operating Company
  • Liaisingwith colleagues in the central analytics team and in other operating companies, to ensure best practice analysis is shared
What are we looking for
  • An inquisitiveindividual willing to question the status quo
  • Ability to use data and insight to confidently build and present arguments for change
  • Ability to present complex data into key succinct arguments
  • Ability to work well in a changing environment and plan for a range of scenarios
  • Capable of managing and balancing own workload and working to deadlines
  • Confidently able to provide own input to budget and financial predictions planned in advance and submitted on time
  • Good analytical and communication skills combined with business acumen, pragmatism and an excellent sense of diplomacy
  • Significant experience and effective use of Microsoft Excel, PowerBI and SQL
  • Strong numericalcapabilitieswith a degree or relevant in Mathematics or other numerical subject
