As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be a registered nurse who has acquired specialised knowledge & have significant current experience in the management of patients with Rheumatology conditions. You will have the skill set to competently perform the necessary technical/invasive/physical aspects of care including venipuncture & canulation certified to support patient compliance particularly with complex treatment regimes. Previous Clinical nurse specialist experience would be advantageous.You will act as a resource for expert advice in Rheumatology and training, facilitating an immediate point of contact for urgent patient consultation. You will plan efficient outpatient care & independent follow up reviews to facilitate wellbeing & admission avoidance. You will facilitate & support further clinician –led bio similar switch, controlling patient’s symptoms / management, provide patient education regarding the benefits of Biosimilar drug switch whilst generating significant cost savings.You will be responsible for consultancy, teaching, audit, research, participate in service development in conjunction with the team lead and maintain service objectives to meet the changing demands of delivering specialised Rheumatology care.You must have the ability to work independently and possess a high level of interpersonal and confident communication skills to support this specific client group whilst managing telephone advice lines / triage of incoming calls, patient referrals, interface with hospital clinicians and general practitioners to maintain excellent clinical links between the services, whilst upholding confidentiality at all times. You will be expected to contribute professionally within groups which may cross-traditional or service boundaries and posses a high level of ITC skills including e- forms, Trakcare and portal.The successful candidate will be based in Gartnavel General Hospital with a remit required across the South Sector to support the existing service where necessary. Shift pattern is variable Monday - Friday to meet service requirements. It is essential that you are currently a NMC Registered Adult Nurse.
