Base Location: Aberdeen, Glasgow, Inverness or PerthSalary: £Competitive depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance + annual bonusWorking Pattern: Permanent | Full Time - 37 hours per week | Flexible working patterns availableAbout the DepartmentTransmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.What is the RoleWe currently have a vacancy for a Cable Project Engineer to provide technical support across multiple projects. This includes developing scopes and specifications for new cable designs as well as modifications to existing cable and electrical systems. This role provides support is across the whole lifecycle of a project, from development of initial concepts, through refinement, contract award, construction, commissioning and finally handover to Operations.You will be responsible for producing initial cable routes and systems, refining these into contract Works Information and then reviewing tender submissions. In the design and construction phase you will be reviewing and accepting contractor and consultants detailed designs and design calculations , witnessing factory acceptance tests and supporting the installation teams including site testing. You will support field teams to ensure quality of installations and where required you will scope, procure and manage specialist services from consultants."What do I needThe ideal candidate for this role will be either degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or possess extensive experience in this role. You will also preferably be a chartered engineer or working towards this.A strong awareness of the technical functions in Transmission along with an appreciation of the legal and regulatory obligations with knowledge of large capital project governance and engineering processes is required. You will understand legislation and the implications for the Transmission network management for both Assets and Projects, including CDM & ESQCR.The ideal candidate will demonstrate diligence and the ability to determine critical technical issues and the ability to prioritise demands and issues.
