If yes, then read on to find out more about the job on offer at Smurfit Kappa.Smurfit Kappa Composites have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager - Scotland & Ireland.The role will be home based in Scotland, ideally near the central belt.This is an opportunity for a proactive and driven individual to focus on developing new business opportunities and managing some existing sales accounts.Main Purpose of Job
  • Secure, grow and maximise the SKC footprint in the Scottish & Irish paper tube markets, with a particular focus on the spirits industry.
  • Day to day account management of all existing Scottish and Irish customer accounts
  • Proactive targeting of key customers/accounts in line with Sales Strategy
  • Develop market plan detailing all opportunities in the sales region
  • Develop SLA’s and long term supply contracts with key customers
  • Visit customers and attend customer review meetings.
  • Monitor and act upon lost business
  • Identify and land specialist sales opportunities
  • Record activities in CRM
  • Develop meaningful business relationships with key decision makers
  • Proactive communication and problem solving with other internal departments to support achievement of high level customer service, as monitored by customer survey.
  • Support accounts team in debtor day and inventory reduction targets
Skills, Knowledge and Experience (essential and desirable)
  • Demonstrate an understanding of both the market, the business and relevant sales strategies
  • Industry, market and product specific knowledge
  • Demonstrate an understanding of customer insights and needs
  • A proven ability to achieve profitable business growth
  • Drive and determination to win
  • Confident self-starter
  • An ability to use successful problem solving techniques
  • Excellent communication skills with both external and internal customers (other teams and departments)
  • Experience of managing customer review meetings
  • Business acumen and financial awareness
  • Strong analytical and negotiating skills
  • Influencing skills with key decision makers
  • IT skills – MS Office products and other bespoke customer databases
  • Ability to travel independently
