Azure specialised Platform Lead required for a well known Scottish business, based from central Glasgow.The company:They have been going for over 50 years and have an IT team in Glasgow of nearly 150 people. As well as the team in Glasgow, they have teams dispersed across the globe, including Australia, USA and Brazil. They operate in a specific energy field and havebeen the market leaders really since their inception.They invest heavily in tech and this role will focus very much on innovation. Regarding WFH policy, it is a hybrid model, working from home/the office, two to three days a week.The role:The business have designed a new platform and need a new head to manage said platform. It has already made the work across the entire team more consistent and allowed the Data Lake to have more functionality. As part of the leadership team, you will be anAzure Data expert and will need technical understanding of data or software engineering, ideally Azure (not necessarily coding however). You will work across 4 different teams, and will have technical ownership as well as influence to make strategic decisions.You will have one direct report (initially) to manage and will work closely alongside Data Engineers (so they can focus on building data pipelines).Skills required:** Responsible for innovation in the platform and maintain awareness of technical developments in the market and opportunities for technology to bring benefit** Define and refine product backlogs, planning the delivery of technical enhancements, new features and/or business-enabling activities** Maintain responsibility for overall running cost, monitoring the component cloud technologies and proactively identifying areas for cost-efficiency** A technical understanding across Microsoft Azure providers within Data and AI technology areas** Experience of database development and maintenance using tools such as Microsoft SQL Server, Databricks, etc** Knowledge and experience using at least 3 of the following technologies in Azure: Data Lake Store Gen2, Databricks, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, CosmosDBIf you are interested, please apply or call Hamish at Cathcart Associates.
