Essential skills:
  • 10+ yrs experience in a geotechnical/ engineering consultancy environment/ Geotechnical engineer
  • Strong technical, commercial and project management capabilities
  • Practical experience in: design, supervision and management of geotechnical site investigations
  • Excellent understanding of geology, ground investigation works, engineering geology, geotechnical engineering as well as current geotechnical industry guidance and standards, and strong soil and rock logging capabilities
  • Strong use of various geotechnical software packages to assess piles, settlement, slope stability and retaining walls (Oasys Geotechnical Software suite, would be beneficial)
  • Proven experience of preparing tenders and fee proposals
  • Client driven with the ability to motivate and engage with immediate colleagues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
  • Computer literate and skilled with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Microsoft Project
  • Full UK driving licence.
Qualifications:
  • Essential: BEng or BSc or equivalent in Civil, Geology or Geotechnical Engineering or similar
  • Essential: Chartered Engineer/Geologist with a relevant professional body (e.g. CGeol, CEng, RoGEP).
  • Preferable but not essential: Further degree in Soil/Rock Mechanics, Engineering Geology, Geotechnics or equivalent
