Venesky-Brown’s client, based in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit an Assistant Librarian for an initial 5 month contract with potential to extend on a rate of £144.93/day PAYE or £190.51 via Umbrella (Inside IR35). This role will be office based.The hours for this role are 24.5 hours per week with days to be negotiated.Responsibilities:- As part of the wider library team the post assists in the provision of a comprehensive enquiry service - This post provides most of the day-to-day routine tasks that underpin the provision of a library service including providing technical assistance and training to users, answering a range of enquiries and managing the library issue desk. - The postholder liaises with colleagues across the Library Network, staff in other departments, and with library users. - The postholder deputies for the Library Manager, and has responsibility for supervising a Senior Library Assistant and potentially placement students and volunteers.Essential Skills:- Undergraduate degree or postgraduate diploma in Library and Information Science- Post qualification experience in library work- High level IT competency- Understanding of data protection and copyright legislation- Have worked as part of a team in a customer focused environment – preferably within a library scenario. - Good communication skills- Ability to work alone with little supervision- Well organised and good time manager- Demonstrates good professional judgementDesirable Skills:- Experience within Health Libraries/ health related environmentIndeedpublicsector
