Job Description

Welfare Advisor£28,000 - £30,000Glasgow4-day Working weekMon to Thu OR Tue to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00Hybrid Working AvailableReporting to Team Managers and Senior Leadership TeamReed is recruiting for an experienced Welfare Advisor to join a local Glasgow charity that specialises in providing a variety of financial and welfare advice to clients.The main purpose of this role is to deliver a comprehensive financial inclusion service to clientsand to advocate on their behalf in order to maximise the best possible outcome and ensure correct support is given. The Welfare Advisor will be advising on a range of matters, including benefits, universal credit entitlements, debt, energy, court hearing, and tribunals.The duties of this role are:

  • Consulting with clients to establish financial and debt situation, through face-to-face meetings, telephone calls, or emails.
  • Providing benefit checking service to ensure benefit maximisation as well as financial capability work.
  • Delivering guidance, information, representation, and support in the areas of welfare benefits and money advice.
  • Communicating effectively with third parties on behalf of clients, including creditors and benefit authorities.
  • Organising 3 appointments per day and managing a case load efficiently.
  • Signposting clients to other relevant specialist resources where appropriate.
  • Maintaining accurate computer records and using AdvicePro Case management system.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • 2 years’ experience in the advice sector and a background in providing financial inclusion service to clients.
  • The ability to identify and understand a clients’ financial issues, and to develop a comprehensive advisory plan to assist them.
  • Expert and up-to-date knowledge of current legislation relevant to the financial inclusion sector.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and numeracy skills as well as knowledge of IT systems (ideally advice case management software).
  • A tenacious and resilient disposition that brings a deep understanding of the challenges faced by clients.
