Job Description

As a clinical leader, the ANP has the freedom and authority to act autonomously in the assessment,diagnosis,treatment, including prescribing of patients with multi­ dimensional problems. This includes the authority to refer, admit and discharge within appropriate clinical areas.You will independently utilise a broad range of advanced knowledge, skills and theory inthe initial physical assessment,diagnosis and treatment ofpatients under the care of an Orthopedic Consultant. A fundamental part of therole is early detection and intervention of clinical deterioration in existing or newmedical conditions and the ANP will independently assess patients, order andanalyse test results, prescribe treatment and monitor effectiveness . Daily review of patient notes, ensuring each patient has a comprehensive daily management planpre and post-operatively , is part of the ANP role. In addition to being a first responder to critical patients,the ANP is central to the daily clinical and medical management of approximately 30 patients within a designated ward and boarded Orthopaedic patients in other wards. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC and that you are recorded as a Nurse Independent/Supplementary Prescriber (V300) with the NMC.
