Information about the schoolRainham Mark Grammar School is ahighly successful Outstanding co-educational selective school with a largeSixth Form. We provide a co-educational grammar education of the highestquality. Girls and boys work together in a co-operative and academicenvironment which is both challenging and friendly. We have established astrong tradition of academic excellence by encouraging hard work and mutualsupport. Our excellent facilities include amodern sports hall, comprising a dance studio, fitness suite and main hall withthree full-length cricket nets; specialist teaching suites for all subjectareas; a purpose-built music block with a recital hall, recording studio andSixth Form study suite. Pastoral support from the outset is very strong andchildren are happy, confident and secure. Individual progress and potential areassessed frequently to ensure that the level of challenge is appropriate foreach child. We are proud that students leaveus as confident and well-qualified men and women prepared to benefit fromhigher education. Beyond the national curriculum subjects, pupils enjoy a gooddeal of choice. At the moment, all study two modern languages through to theend of Year 9. All pupils have the opportunity to study the three separatesciences (Physics, Chemistry and Biology), and all students take both EnglishLanguage and Literature. Drama, Economics, Business Studies and PE are popularamongst wide GCSE option choices; Information Technology is used in mostsubjects. Extensive extra-curricular activities include many sports, Duke ofEdinburgh, orchestra, band, choir, Maths puzzle club, dance and drama, and useof the computer rooms. Around 80 school trips take place, some of which arestrongly linked to the curriculum, and some (during school holidays) are morefor enjoyment. Sixth Form A Level options are exceptionally wide (currently 26different subjects are offered) and include Government & Politics, PE, FilmStudies, Philosophy and Theology, Psychology and Economics besides the moretraditional subjects. Almost all Sixth Formers go on to degree courses.Admission to the school in Year 7 is via the Medway test which is taken inSeptember. All children taking part in the selection procedure take the sametest, whichever Medway school they have chosen as their preference.
