Job Description

OUR STORY:For over 35 years, Mick George Ltd has been the driving force behind a vision for growth, expansion and diversification.Today we are a major supplier to the UK construction industry, providing a broad range of services from Skip Hire and Waste Management, Aggregates & Concrete Supply right through to Earthworks, Asbestos Management and Demolition. We encourage and support every employee in achieving their career aspirations; propelling the business forward and enabling us to achieve the high standards our customers expect throughout their Mick George journey.ABOUT THE ROLE:Due to recent award of a long term earthworks contract, we are now looking to add an experienced Construction Manager to our highly effective Contracting team. Working for a Tier 1 Main Contractor, this project will be based in Nottingham and will last for approx. 52 weeks. However, this will be a permanent role with the successful candidate expected to undertake other projects upon completion.

  • Plan the work and oversee the buying of necessary materials and equipment
  • Hire and manage staff for the project
  • Manage the construction site on a day-to-day basis, including overseeing the labour force, monitoring subcontractors, and overseeing quality control
  • Ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget by setting benchmarks, agreeing budgets and monitoring progress
  • Check design documents with architects, surveyors and engineers
  • Promote and maintain health and safety, including site inspections to ensure safety rules are being followed
  • Maintain regular communication and attend meetings with clients and their representatives to inform them of progress on the project, i.e. stakeholder management
  • Production of reports.
  • Communicate with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and others involved in the project
  • Deal with any unexpected problems that may occur during the project.
  • KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Recognised construction qualification with an outstanding knowledge of the construction industry.
  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills with the ability to maximise opportunities.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a Highways and Infrastructure capacity is desirable
  • Confident communicator with experience of working with Tier 1 main contractors.<span style
