Job Description

KCR Solutions are delighted to be working with this growing firm of Accountants based near Gateshead, in their search for a Trainee/Assistant AccountantReporting to the Senior accountant, the post-holder will assist in the smooth running of the Accountancy Practice. This will include the day-to-day bookkeeping and preparation of clients VAT returns. Accounting systems will include Cloud Based software andAutomatic bank feeds.The Trainee / Assistant Accountant will be a key member of the Practice and good communications with clients is essential.The key duties of the post are as follows:

  • Preparation of client VAT returns
  • Maintaining bookkeeping records for a varied portfolio of clients
  • Use of Cloud based software, including Xero, QuickBooks, Kashflow
  • Posting Automatic Feeds from banks, and reconciliation of Client bank accounts
  • Uploading purchase and sales invoices to OCR software (including Hubdoc, Dext etc)
  • Reconciliation of Clients’ Debtors and Creditors
  • Assisting with postings into Clients’ Trial Balances
  • Supporting Senior Accountant with Accounts Production (Limited Company and Sole Traders) and personal income tax returns
The Person
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience in a similar office role - essential.
  • Good computer literacy, great attention to detail and well organised.
  • Advanced level of literacy and numeracy required.
  • Flexibility - ability to react and respond positively to changes in priority and workload.
  • Ability to work using own initiative as well as being a team player.
  • Ability to multi-task, good time management and work well under pressure.
Hours of WorkMonday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm with a half hour lunch break; and Friday 8.30 am to 2.30pm with half hour lunch break. The post holder is expected to reasonably undertake the required number of hours necessary to achieve the key result areas of the positionto meet accounting deadlines.
