Job Description

WHAT COMPANY YOU WILL BE WORKING FOROur client based in Gateshead are seeking a specialised toolmaker working in the design & manufacture of tooling. They are seeking an apprentice trained CNC Machinist/Programmer to join our team.WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE

  • Accountable to the Tool Design Manager you will be involved in programming CNC vertical machining centres. Job entails offline (office based) programming using Powershape & Feature CAM software to produce 3D models and engineering drawings of mould and other thermoforming tooling components
  • Also using Powermill & Feature CAM to produce NC programmes for use with 3 and 5 Axis CNC machines.
WHAT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION
  • Ideally you will have experience of Heidenhain and Mazak CNC controls systems.
  • The ideal candidate will have a Machinists apprenticeship and proven post apprenticeship experience in programming, producing and the measuring of accurate CNC machined parts. An appropriate qualification is also required.
  • Desirable features for a candidate would be previous experience of programming using CADCAM systems and a working knowledge of Delcam Power shape / Power Mill, and Feature CAM would be advantageous.
WHAT ARE THE FINER DETAILS OF YOUR ROLEThis is a permanent job from day one.You will work 4 weeks of days (8am-4:30pm Monday to Friday) and rotate 2 weeks of nights (8pm-6am Monday to Thursday)WHAT SALARY PACKAGE YOU WILL BE RECEIVINGRate is £13.52 per hour depending on experience. Additional shift allowance of 22.5% when on night shift.Holiday Entitlement20 days during a complete holiday year plus Bank Holidays, rising by 1 day per year for each completed year or service at the 1st January, up to a maximum of 25 days per year at 5 or more years of completed service. Employees are required to keep up to 5days of their holiday to cover the Christmas and New Year holiday period. For part years of service entitlement will be calculated as 1/12th of the annual entitlement for each completed month of service during that holiday year.Pension SchemeAll employees are automatically enrolled into the company pension scheme after having completed 3 months service and providing they have attained the age of 22 years, in line with the government regulations under auto enrolment. A 3% contribution is paidby the company and the employee is required to contribute 3% rising in line with Auto Enrolment rules.
