Job Description

The Role

  • Working within the Finance team the Legal & Contracts Manager will provide accurate, relevant, and timely advice to the Executive Management & Senior Leadership teams on a variety of legal topics that relate to the Humankind Business, its subsidiaries,subcontractors and the Charities Sector
  • Working closely with Finance and Directors in reviewing, drafting or negotiating delivery contracts, commercial contracts and grant agreements/MOU with final approval and recommendations
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the business and its contractual delivery, mitigating contractual and performance risk as necessary
  • Provide legal advice & contract support to the Humankind Procurement Team
  • Provide legal due diligence support when reviewing potential transactions, new bids, contracts and tenders
  • Providing up to date knowledge relating to legislation changes, particularly in relation to contract law, rules and regulations that directly affect Charities and Not for Profit organisations
  • Provide contractual legal advice and guidance to the senior team, sourcing external advice when appropriate
  • Delivery of training and updates to senior staff, promoting contractual knowledge & compliance
  • Manage and oversee legal costs and expenditure against budget
  • Create and maintain a system to ensure all legal contracts and documentation are filed, maintained and accessed appropriately
  • Ensure operational managers are aware of our contractual obligations
The ClientOur client is a well known, growing charity based in the North EastAbout youSuccessful candidates will be able to demonstrate:
  • 3+ Years PQE as a Solicitor in England & Wales
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, contract negotiation, drafting & review
  • Negotiation, drafting & review of contracts and variations
  • Excellent communication & arbitration skills
  • Managing budgets
  • Ability to work closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders
