This role is being advertised by Savills Management Resources (SMR) a wholly owned entity of Savills (UK) Limited but a separate employing entity which is not accredited by Real Living Wage Foundation.Purpose of the RoleThe purpose of the Fire Officer is to provide support to the Health Safety & Compliance team in relation to all fire related matters.Reporting to the Fire, Health & Safety Coordinator you will conduct daily fire testing in landlord and retail areas. You will ensure back of house areas are compliant with regulations including HASAW.You will be very experienced in fire and health and safety legislative requirements in so far as they relate to the day to day running of a shopping centre and how they relate to landlord and tenant relationships.Successful candidates will be professional in their approach to the delivery of a customer focused role, always demonstrating professional and courteous behaviour in the execution of their dutiesApplicants should expect to undertake training in relation to the governments Action Counter Terrorism Campaign and to be fully aware of their responsibilities in both this and other emergency procedures in the centre.You will ensure fire and health and safety compliance throughout the centre through collaborative working with all departments. You will work with the Fire, Health and Safety Manager on fire management for the centre and will have a proven track record inthis area.Key Responsibilities Day to day: Maintain fire safety standards around site to ensure full fire safety compliance is met. Report any fire safety related matters to Fire, Health & Safety Coordinator. Ensures the readiness (and compliance with regulatory requirements) of all fire safety provisions within the centre(s) for which you hold responsibility, i.e. sprinklers, fire detection, fire-fighting equipment, means of escape etc. Identify high fire risk retailers areas and works with them to ensure inspections and conducted and remedial issues closed out. Ensure that all visiting contractors comply with the fire safety provisions of the centre(s) and assist in the supervision and guidance given. Assist in driving and communicating company policy, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Fire Safety Reform Order. Promote measurable cultural, behavoural and procedural improvements in fire and health and safety performance across the centre. Assist on site in the event of fire alarms (actual fires, false alarms) and safety incidents and accident reports. Assist in the completion of health and safety audits and inspection within the centre(s) for which you hold responsibility.Skills, Knowledge and Experience Person specification: The ability to effectively respond to enquiries or complaints from centre management and retailers. Solve problems and provide innovative solutions. Be someone who takes the initiative and drives for results. Be honest, transparent and consistent. Genuine in all communication and not afraid of having difficult conversation. Utmost discretion when dealing with sensitive or confidential information. Qualifications and experience: Essential: Experienced and competent in fire safety arrangements. Experience of delivering excellent customer service in a similar environment. Experienced in auditing fire principles. Desirable: Experienced fire risk assessor. Experience of shopping centre fire safety management.
