Development Database Administrator Gateshead, Mergefield Competitive Salary 1-1 Recruitment are looking for a Development Database Administrator to deliver robust and performant database designs. The ideal candidate will be part of a team responsible for delivery, development and support for IT systems. The successful candidatewill work as part of a wider data team, delivering data components for the platform on which industry leading tax revenue, product authentication and track-and-trace IT solutions are built.You will also work with the Software Delivery Team, Infrastructure Team, IT Support and Test teams to define software solutions, research, determine the scope and complexity of issues and to identify steps to resolve them. In addition, you will build relationshipswith key stakeholders, and identify areas where standards can be developed and processes improved, and work with your team to implement those improvements.This is an excellent opportunity to join aniconic British manufacturer and global leader of Banknotes and Authentication solutions, currently delivering a challenginggrowth plan despite the recent global challenges. Due to the nature of our clients business you must be able to achieve UK MOD SC ClearanceYou must bea UK Passport holder and resided in the UK for the last 5 years to achieve this clearance.RESPONSIBILITIES:Individual

• Providing technical support as required to the Software Delivery Team, Data team and Infrastructure Manager and input to technical projects
• Providing a common thread for Database delivery activities from inception, through delivery, into operational running
• Supporting analysis and resolution of data issues
• Working within an agile framework to deliver robust and performant database designs and code
• Delivering to strict deadlines, demonstrating an ability to work under pressure
• Troubleshooting performance issues

Divisional Authentication

• Support the Divisional leadership team, executing the strategy for Authentication in terms of the core GRS and Brand Protection propositions.
• Provide subject matter expertise to support effective decision making provide input as required to the annual strategic planning cycle.
• Support and follow the governance and operational disciplines applicable across the division.

Common to all roles

• To ensure full participation in the performance development review (PDR) process and maintain an up to date record of all training and development activities/programs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience.
• 3 years plus experience as a Production DBA while providing DBA support and guidance to Development Teams
• 3 years plus experience as a SQL Server developer providing support and guidance to software Development and IT Operations Teams
• Demonstrable experience of T-SQL coding of stored procedures and functions
• ETL Skills using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) in conjunction with T-SQL and custom scripts, preferably C#, to query REST APIs
• Performance Tuning and Optimization using native and bespoke tools
• Experience of version-control systems such as Azure DevOps and / or Git
• An understanding of logical and physical database design and the different concepts behind OLTP, OLAP and Data Warehousing
• Enquiring approach to work, a methodological approach to solving problems and an attention to detail
• Experienced with all editions of MS SQL Server from 2016 through to 2019
• Working with SQL Server in a HA environment including Windows Server Failover Clusters (WSFC), Log shipping and Always-On High Availability (Availability Groups)
• Some knowledge of Microsoft Azure SQL database
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to work with people across the organisation
• An understanding of information security
• An understanding of the principles of the business continuity and disaster recovery
