Job Description

A Contracts Manager with a background in contract law and negotiation is sought by an Engineering company in the Tyneside areaWorking closely with the Commercial Director you will co-ordinate with the Commercial team to prepare and review bids for presentation to management. You will also drive and support all contracts aspects pertaining to all pre and post sales activities i.e.including customer terms and conditions, special requests, manage and develop the contracts management process, support the bid process, i.e. including bid launch and reviews and assist in the development of contract structures in relation to research anddevelopment, production and repair contracts with customers.You will also lead/participate as appropriate in the negotiation of contracts and contract amendments with customers, review and oversee all commercial agreements with customers or partners, including long term supply agreements, non-disclosure agreements,agency agreements, distribution agreements, notation agreements, levy agreements, escrow agreements and collaborative agreements, review customer contracts and purchase orders and conduct contract hand over reviews and liaise with other departments, in particularProject Management, to provide advice on all contractual issues, including obligations, liabilities and rights.In addition to this you will assist with keeping the Commercial Department up to date with contract termination dates and any annual price change dates, advise on customs and excise and export licence procedures, including the raising and monitoring of exportlicensing, control and oversee the companys patent portfolio. You will also be responsible for liaising with the patent attorney to ensure that all patents are up to date and all filings made on time, take the lead in the legal discussions, oversee the processfor property lease renewals or negotiating new property leases and lead the company insurance programme, negotiate prices, liaise with the insurance broker, provide information as necessary and review policy documents.YOUR SKILLSThe successful candidate will be an experienced and dynamic contract manager with a proven track record in the management of contracts and customers, ideally with a good knowledge of contract/commercial law. You will need experience of reviewing and negotiatingcontract terms and conditions to ensure that projects are commercially viable and that the companies intellectual property is safeguarded.You will need to be organised, able to deal with clients professionally and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to present proposals to internal stakeholders and a good level of commercial astuteness is needed.
