Job Description

My client in Gateshead is looking for an experienced CAD Designer who can draw up our existing line of products, use these drawings to create complete kits, which will inform work and build instructions. In addition to handle any new manufacturing/fabricationenquiries which would include the process of drawing of said components through to providing a quotation to the customer.It is highly beneficial if you are familiar with a full production environment, which includes working with sheet metal and turning it into a finished product using fabrication processes and using our CNC machines, which include a 4m guillotine, press brakeand fibre laser.Job Description - CAD Designer/Estimator

  • Coordination of workload to meet schedule, quality and budget requirements.
  • Lead designer on new and existing projects for both fabrication and fiber laser jobs.
  • Produce detailed drawings, fabrication drawings and parts list (BOM).
  • Create detailed work instructions to be used alongside CAD drawings.
  • Collaborate with other engineering functions with regards to additional fabrication processes i.e. sheet metal work and welding
  • Review existing manufacturing drawings and reissue if required
  • Be involved in the research, design and development of existing and new products
  • Provide detailed design plans, including customer sign off and risk assessments
  • Create drawings to which can be easily understood by multiple stakeholders
  • Advantageous if you can perform load and stress tests
  • Nest drawings on our fiber laser software (cypnest) and use this information to provide customers with quotes.
  • Liase with the fabrication manager to provide quotations to customers for fabricated jobs
  • Is comfortable creating multiple mechanical layouts of drawings in both 2D and 3D.
  • Work alongside fabricators to realise the design
  • Seek to continuously improve products/designs to improve efficiencies and reduce build times.
  • Assisting/engaging with customers and the fabrication manager to address clients requirements/revisions of products.
Your Profile
  • is essential that you are willing to learn how these are put together, as part of the role would include new product development.
  • Possess good engineering skills
  • Understanding of engineering principle such as forces and stresses
  • Ability to work logically in a clear and concise manner
  • It’s imperative that you are organised and are quality driven
  • Computer literate
  • Preferable knowledge of metal fabrication
  • Willingness to learn about our products and services

Salary: 28k to 35kWork HoursMonday-Thursday 7:30 - 4:00 & Friday 7:30 - 3:00Holidays20 days holiday to begin with but on commencement of your third calendar year your allowance increases to 25 days. Bank holidays are included in your allowance.
