Job Description

Bill of Material EngineerHave you created and managed bill of materialsCan you work closely with draughtsman to translate product drawings into BOMsAre you able to work effectively in a fast paced companySearch are proud to be working with a market leading company on the recruitment of a Bill of Materials Engineer based in Newcastle. You will Ensure BOMs and routings remain current and valid, and that costing variances between estimates, BOMs and Productiondata are investigated and reconciled.Responsibilities

  • To Own the creation and management of BOMs and routings.
  • Ensure BOMs and routings remain current and valid, and that costing variances between estimates, BOMs and Production data are investigated and reconciled.
  • Working closely with Draughtsmen, translate product drawings into BOMs and routings on ERP system (M1).
  • Ensure client requirements and specifications are clearly understood, and accurately reflected.
  • Where manufacturing BOMs and costs deviate from estimate, escalate to Project Managers and Estimators, and support investigation and reconciliation.
  • Manage work queue in alignment with installation dates and production leadtimes.
  • For new, repeat products, engage with Production Teams on first manufacture to assess and refine BOMs, feeding variances back to Project Team and Commercial Team for costing purposes.
  • Engage with Production Teams on a routine and ongoing basis to identify changes and improvements in manufacturing methods and timings and reflect in BOMs.
  • Engage with Stores, Procurement and Commercial teams to ensure that current costs, stock levels and product availability are all joined up.
  • Ensure suite of BOMs is kept up-to-date and maintained with regards to revision control, material changes and obsolescence etc.
  • Ensure compliance with quality systems.
Competencies
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy.
  • Strong IT skills - Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • MRP / ERP experience
  • Technical aptitude - fully conversant with technical drawings, and a good understanding of manufacturing methods.
  • Appreciation of change control within a manufacturing environment
  • Logical fact-based approach to troubleshooting & problem solving.
