Job Description

This is a permanent position with in Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust. The initial employment will be to work in the PCAS unit, if this service is stood down in the future then further permanent employment within the Trust will be offered.We are interested in hearing from any motivated and enthusiastic administrative staff who would like to come and work in this new service that has grown and developed rapidly over the past 18 months. This service will continue to change and develop over themonths ahead, as we respond to the challenges that this pandemic has brought to us all working in the NHS.The Covid Testing Service provides a range of services to individuals including:

  • Swab tests for patients coming in for surgery or tests at the QE site access via the "Drive thru" shelter
  • Swab test for staff who are showing signs of potential Covid infection
  • Mask fitting service for trust staff who are likely to be working in with patients at high risk of Covid infection
You will need to have good Medway skills, and will be working in the call handling team, and also in a busy reception area. Your role will involve answering queries from members of staff, and members of the public, as well as booking appointments and registeringindividuals to Medway.RESPONSIBILITIESYou will therefore need good communication skills and be able to demonstrate a professional and friendly approach when working in this demanding frontline service. The service works across 7 days, 8-5.30pm
  • To provide prompt, efficient coordination of administration and clerical support to the PCAS service.
  • To maintain the information systems used by the team in order to collate and coordinate data and produce reports as required for the team and managers.
  • To maintain and devise spreadsheets to assist in data collection and management. To produce timely reports using IT packages including Excel and pivot tables.
  • To gather further information for team members from other teams and agencies as required.
  • To undertake audits as required.
  • To coordinate testing services, using data to assess compliance, and adjust with the assistance of the PCAS Manager.
  • Help complete finance sheets regarding attendance at clinics.
  • To contribute to delivering a high quality, efficient and effective service at all times complying with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and legislation.
  • To provide cross cover as required with other teams to cover leave, sickness and training
SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Good standard of general education (5 GCSE or equivalent, including Maths and English).
  • Experience in MS Office Suite
  • Proven and effective organisation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, plan and prioritise a busy workload and meet strict deadline.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint or a similar package.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Data Protection Act 1998.
  • Calm disposition
  • The ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Understand the significance of confidentiality.
  • To be able to prioritise and use initiative.
  • The ability to adapt to developing service needs.
  • Ability to work flexible to meet service requirements.
