SSE Clyde Waterfront (formally SSMG Clyde) - Senior Support Engineer SF35343Business Unit: Submarine Support EngineeringLocation: Faslane, Argyll & Bute, GB, G84 8HLSalary: £37,165 - £41,470About the roleBabcocks Submarine Support Engineering (SSE) Group (formally SSMG) is contracted to provide engineering and design services support to the Ministry of Defence, and in particular, In-service Submarines (ISM) Project Team who form part of the Defence Engineeringand Support Organisation. As part of SSE, the Clyde Waterfront Team are permanently located within HMNB Clyde and provide expert knowledge and experience to all stakeholders within the Naval Base, including all submarine crews. This creates a varied, excitingand challenging area to work within and provides excellent opportunities for future growth.Based within the SSE Clyde Waterfront Support Office, the Waterfront Senior Support Engineer, working with a small team of professional engineers, is responsible for the day to day provision of engineering support to Royal Navy submarine Ships Staff, the Ministryof Defence and Naval Base personnel in relation to in-service operational requirements. Frequently working autonomously, the candidate must draw on their knowledge, diagnostic skills and experience to independently make recommendations around the following;system operations, defect history, material specification, temporary/permanent repair options, alternative stores, repair time and impact on the submarine programme.This role provides an exciting opportunity to work within the high tempo and technically challenging environment of nuclear submarine maintenance and repair.What do I need to do the roleThe candidate should be an experienced engineer with a good understanding of nuclear submarines and their associated ship, weapons and propulsion systems. The candidate will also require an understanding of their basic construction, major equipment fittedand a submarines operational routines. Knowledge of how maintenance projects are planned and executed would also prove beneficial when undertaking this role.What else do I need to know about the role
