An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and driven Clinical Nurse Specialist to join an established team at the Ida Darwin Hospital. The successful applicant should have has extensive experience working in mental health with young people and their families.The Darwin Centre for Young People is a specialist adolescent inpatient unit for the assessment and treatment of young people from 12 to 17 with serious mental health problems. The service works in partnership with young people, their families and external agencies to help them manage their illness in a way that will allow them to return home and to school at the earliest opportunity.An understanding of safeguarding issues and how to respond to them is essential along with an understanding of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and how they apply to young people.This post is central to the delivery of clinical support, education, training, and development of the nursing team. Working in partnership with the Ward Manager, Modern Matron and the Consultant Psychiatrist. The post holder will develop and embed evidence-based clinical nursing practice within the team through the implementation and facilitation of clinically based education, training and skills development for the clinical team.We are looking for a Clinical Nurse Specialist who is able to demonstrate a commitment to creative engagement with a culturally diverse population of our service group, shows initiative, demonstrates excellent leadership skills, is a team player and is able to communicate ideas clearly to both professionals and those who use our service.You would be working alongside Psychologist, Family Therapist and Psychiatrist colleagues with excellent opportunities for peer support and learning, as well as being expected to access clinical and professional supervision through the well-defined systems we have in place.The post will offer varied opportunities for training and development, with CPD needs being identified and monitored through the Trusts appraisal process.Extensive post qualifying experience working within multidisciplinary inpatient and community settings and evidence of accredited courses in Trauma-Informed Care, DBT, MBT and mental health practice are preferable criteria for this post.For further details / informal visits contact:Dave Rickerby, Modern Matrondave.rickerby@cpft.nhs.ukGeorgie Holloway, Ward Managergeorgie.holloway@cpft.nhs.uk
