Job Description

Summary Have you got fantasticorganisational and communication skills, who is able to multi-task and prioritise own workload. Are you an individual who hasan understanding of good practice in volunteeringin working with a large number of volunteers Wed loveyou to bring your skills to the biggest conservation charity in Europe. With engaging stories to tell, theres always something for us to share with our visitors through our volunteers, it will be your job to make sure were doing that all year round. What its like to work here Castle Drogo built between 1910 and 1930 by renowned architect Sir Edwin Lutyens for millionaire Julius Drew, the castle was inspired by the rugged Dartmoor tors that surround it and was laboriously shaped and chiselled by hand out of local granite.Belowthe castle,paths wind their way into the gorge with the River Teignflowing at the bottom and views of this ancient landscape from the top. What youll be doing AsCastle DrogosVisitor Experience Officer -Volunteering, youll be responsible for a large volunteering offer bydelivering the day to day volunteer operationsupporting and organising to create a consistent and quality experience thatis positive, flexible and inclusive.Understanding how and why we engage ourvolunteers is key. Working toensure all our communications with our volunteers are clear and consistent. As a champion of exceptional volunteer experiences, youll join a high performing team and will regularly beinvolved in the duty management rota helping run the visitor operation.Youll be constantly evolving volunteer opportunities, ensuring mutual benefit and responding to the changing needs of the organisation and current /potential supporters.Youll work with colleagues and partners to design and develop mutually beneficial opportunities that are attractive and accessible to different audiences and champion a one team culture.Please also read the full role profile attached to this advert. Who were looking for Its a significant role at a busy property and we need someone who can take on a challenge. To deliver this role successfully, youll need to have:

  • A flexible customer focused approach, with high standards of customer service
  • Excellent people skills, enabling strong relationships, both externally and internally
  • Experience of working to multiple deadlines and managing own workload
  • Outstanding organisation and planning skills, and a good eye for detail
  • Understanding of the aims and ethos of the National Trust
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A hard working approach, be committed and a team player
  • Strong IT skills - Microsoft Office, as well as web and social media applications
  • Experience of producing interpretation, marketing or promotional material
  • Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety procedures
