Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to take this lead role of the Recovery unit. They will be able to take the pivotal role in clinical and managerial leadership across the general, orthopaedic and women’s health recovery units. The Recovery unit at the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust has an excellent reputation and standards and works to support innovation and change.The Recovery units compromise of 3 departments spanning 10 general theatres, 5 orthopaedic theatres, 3 Women’s Health theatres and paediatric service provision in Ophthalmic theatres. Additionally the recovery unit accommodates the care of interventional radiology patients, MRI patients and endoscopy patients. There are additional plans to provide service off site for the recovery of ECT therapy. The general recovery unit provides 24 hours service delivery and accommodates both adult and paediatric patient, and serves as an escalation area for ICU.This role takes the lead of 50 whole time equivalent staff across the range of band 2 – band 6 staff and is also part of the learning environment delivery for student nurses, student ODPs, student nursing associates and trainee assistant practitioners.The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and is able to co-ordinate the conflicting priorities across the Recovery unit sites and with other associated teams. They will be a dynamic leader who supports the delivery of high standards of nursing care and works with the Practice Education team to support and enhance the learning environment in Recovery for both students and staff.
