Job Description

Principal Ecologist - ExeterRef BR00031Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 + benefitsThis is a brilliant opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Ecologist to join the ever-expanding, highly successful Ecology team of a UK-leading, reputable, multidisciplinary consultancy. The team can proudly say that their work makes a genuine difference,as they promote innovative nature-based solutions and work towards a carbon net zero agenda. Working with the vibrant Exeter office, you will be a part of the companys larger South West branch, and contribute to a range of frameworks and projects, both localand national. You will get to work collaboratively with internal and external clients, as well as mentor more junior members of the team.In order to be considered for this Principal Ecologist role, you will:

  • Have membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or be eligible to apply.
  • Have a degree in Ecology or another closely related field.
  • Be able to demonstrate a successful history of project management, including technical, financial and quality assurance aspects.
  • Have a working knowledge of UKHab classification and Debra Metric.
  • Have strong botanist skills. FICS Level 4 is desirable but not essential.
  • Have interest in aquatic botanical surveys, otters, white clawed crayfish and water voles.
  • Have a full, clean UK drivers licence.
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be confident in a client-facing role.
Working as a Principal Ecologist you will:
  • Take lead on nationally important infrastructure projects and managing frameworks.
  • Collaborate with talented multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Undertake stakeholder engagement.
  • Plan and undertake field surveys, and analyse and interpret the data produced.
  • Design and coordinate ecological mitigation.
  • Mentor more junior team members.
  • Author and review a range of ecological reports and licence applications.
