Job Description

Our client is looking for an Online Community Coordinator to organise and facilitate the launch of their Plug In Devon’ digital platform. Plug In Devon’ is a new online platform that aims to connect people in Devon with each other and with the services they want and need.Online Community Coordinator Reference number: 79.20Based: Exeter / Homebased + Devon TravelHours: Part time, 21 hours per weekSalary: £23,230 per annum FTEContract: Fixed Term Contract (5 Months)This is a partnership project between our client and wider Devon Together Alliance (DTA) members and is thanks to funding from the National Lottery.The aim of the project is to help people feel linked and connected, and to mitigate the effects of Covid-19 restrictions amongst DTA communities during this coming winter period. The platform will include links and access to local services, shared stories from community members, discussions forums and an interactive map of local resources.The successful candidate will work with partners in the DTA, as well as their web design consultancy, to co-produce content for the platform that helps to build resilience, support connection, and encourage healthier lifestyles and community involvement. You’ll train and coordinate a group of Online Connectors’ - volunteers with lived experience who will also source and develop content. You’ll provide ongoing support for these volunteers, and will maintain the platform, monitoring content to ensure it is kept up to date and that queries and feedback are responded to in a timely and appropriate manner.The role will be predominantly home based but you will be required to occasionally travel into the office in Exeter. You may also occasionally be required to visit other hubs across Devon.What they’re looking forThey are looking for someone with experience of coordinating different elements to bring projects or events to completion. You’ll have an understanding of coproduction and asset based community development, and will have experience of involving, consulting and coproducing enterprising activities with service users and/or wider community members.This position will work closely with a number of partner organisations across the DTA, so you’ll need to be able to work collaboratively with others. However, you’ll also need to be able to use your initiative and think innovatively to pilot new ideas and demonstrate social impact.You’ll have strong knowledge of a range of online platforms and tools, including websites, social media, blogs, chat functions and webinars/video streaming (although you will have technical support from the web design consultancy). A strong communicator, you’ll adapt your style to easily fit a range of audiences.You’ll have an understanding of complex needs and the role of the community in supporting recovery, and will ensure that service users and their families and communities remain at the heart of this project.About our client and DTAOur client is a thriving charity providing services across Devon and Dorset, in the community and within prisons.
