Job Description

We have a superb opportunity for an experienced IT Support Technician to join our client based in Exeter. They would like the candidate to have previous experience in a similar role. They are looking for someone to join their dynamic Network Support Teamin the provision of a high-quality service.Your main responsibility will be to work to high standards of safety and accountability to ensure all IT related services operate effectively with the minimum risk of downtime. You will work as a key part of the IT Strategy Group, you will keep staff appraisedof the position of equipment and systems undergoing maintenance/updates, repairs, in a manner easily understood by non-technical staff.As an IT Support Technician your responsibilities will include (this is notan exhaustive list):

  • Contributing to the operation of IT Services to support teaching and learning, business, and administrative functions. Oversee the provision of all IT equipment and services aiming to ensure high availability and suitable performance.
  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support for more complex requests and issues, performing diagnosis procedures on hardware, peripherals and applications and liaising with 3rd parties as required.
  • Follow all policies and procedures relating to security, backup, disaster recovery and acceptable use.
  • To create and manage the client’s asset registers of all hardware and software, using adequate tools to report and maintain these.
  • Actively contribute to discussions on how the Service can be improved based on local knowledge and data from the service desk application.
  • Support, maintain, develop, and deploy all IT hardware and software resources used without exception
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date software register including license details, renewal dates and costs, which is used to inform the IT Refresh Strategy and Strategic Development Plan, in line with the annual budget cycle.
  • Actively maintain and monitor the anti-virus/anti-malware provision and overall security of the IT systems to ensure the integrity of data, systems, and resources in participation with 3rd party.
  • Support in the management of active network appliances including switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Support the installation of additional servers and upgrading of the network operating system.
  • Maintain internet filtering systems.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONThe ideal candidate will;
  • Be a self-motivated individual, with the ability to work both as part of
  • a team and on their own initiative
  • Have excellent communication, organisational and time management skills.
  • Have a flexible and adaptable approach
  • Be able to work under pressure
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to work with users of all abilities and seniority.
  • Basic skills in troubleshooting of networked systems.
  • Working knowledge of effective service management methodologies (ITIL/Cyber Essentials or similar).
Package:
  • Salary: £25.000-£28.000
  • Hours: Mon -Fri 8:00-16:30, in school holidays 8:00 - 15:30 as well as x5 Saturday Events across the year and x3 after school events (evening). Flexible working conditions also considered.
