Job Description

Cathedral Appointments has an exciting new vacancy for an HR Consultant within an ambitious, growing company based on the outskirts of Exeter. Delivering a high quality, professional service to a range of customers, our client requires an HR Consultant to provide advice and guidance on everyday HR matters, and provide support to senior consultants on complex HR cases and projects. The successful candidate will be able to develop lasting client relationships and strengthen/grow existing accounts. This is an excellent time to join the expanding company.This role is predominantly home based however regular travel to the office and clients based in the South West will be required.Responsibilities:

  • Work with clients and the internal team to competently and efficiently handle a range of HR projects and issues (employee relations, resourcing, organisation development, training, pay and benefits, performance management, people management, business change)
  • Partner with our clients, taking ownership of their HR issues and initiatives, and work to resolve these using the support of the team and resources available to you to ensure you achieve the best possible outcome for the client
  • Answer telephone calls and emails, providing timely, commercial and compliant advice to ensure clients receive an excellent service
  • Visit clients on site when required to effectively and efficiently handle a range of HR projects and issues (disciplinary/grievance investigations and hearings, recruitment interviews, return to work interviews, redundancy consultation etc.)
  • Produce letters and documentation to support the employee lifecycle (offer letters, employment contracts, job descriptions, meeting notes, employee letters etc.) for our clients to ensure their HR processes run smoothly and efficiently
  • Draft and maintain client employee handbooks and policies to ensure they are up to date with current employment legislation and internal changes
  • Work within the company’s established administrative systems to ensure operations run smoothly
  • Take on any other responsibilities or tasks that are within your skills and abilities as the changing needs of the business require
  • Requirements:
  • CIPD qualified to level 5 or equivalent
  • Has solid experience of supporting and advising managers across a range of HR issues
  • Has solid experience of working with best practice HR policy and procedure
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, with experience of drafting a variety of letters and documents
  • Is able to identify when additional help and support is needed and seeks this effectively to resolve HR issues
  • Comfortable using a range of IT, digital and online systems and tools
  • Strong consulting, communication and influencing skills, including confidence in managing key stakeholders
  • Possess a full clean UK driving licence and be willing to travel throughout the South West and occasionally elsewhere in the UK
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
