Thank you.Healthcare Assistant, Band 2An opportunity has arisen for Healthcare Assistants to come and join our team at the Nightingale Hospital Exeter (NHE).This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team who will provide outstanding care to patients with COVID-19 across the southwest peninsula at the NHENHE is the seventh and most recent Nightingale Hospital to be commissioned by the NHS to help manage the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the build is complete, NHE will remain on standby, ready to receive patients at 7 days’ notice should the need arise in the coming months. NHE is part of the region’s plan for an integrated response to COVID19.NHE has 72 ward based care beds, split into three wards; Poppy, Daisy and Clover. There are also two wards (44 beds) to support patients on mechanical ventilation; Buttercup and Campion.The successful applicant will join the multi-disciplinary team in providing expert care to patients.We anticipate receiving patients from across the south west peninsular.Applicants will need at least one years’ experience in an acute hospital or relevant recent healthcare experience. We will provide a 24 hour, 7 day a week service for patients and therefore this role requires our staff to work a combination of days and nights including weekdays and weekends, 12.5 hour shifts.The successful applicant will work alongside likeminded individuals who are enthusiastic, skilled and motivated to provide the best care for patients with COVID-19. You will need to be flexible and adaptable to support the new team at the Nightingale hospital Exeter.The role requires a caring and kind person who enjoys being a patient advocate and assisting people with their daily needs such as washing and dressing, mobilising and ensuring they get sufficient nutrition and hydration.At this initial stage of the recruitment process, we are only looking to appoint candidates that are already employed with Health and Social care organisations (i.e. NHS, DCC) within the Devon STP footprint.Successful candidates will receive relevant training and an induction, and will remain at their current employment base until a need for deployment to the Nightingale Hospital Exeter. During your time at the Nightingale, staff will work under the day to day operational processes of the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust. For this reason, we are not currently able to accept applications from candidates outside of current Health and Social Care/NHS employment unless employed by our Central Staff Bank.The successful applicant will need to accept redeployment from their home Trust to NHE at short notice if and when NHE becomes operational.
